Blair's Big Girl Room!

I can't believe I'm finally posting this after hoarding having all this big girl furniture for her since she was a little baby. As you may know, Blair didn't once use or sleep in her nursery for a year and a half as we nursed and co-slept for forever. So I've been excited about her 'big girl' room because I knew that she would actually be in it and it would truly become hers, forever. Almost all of the furniture we received from some very generous friends of ours, whose daughter had outgrown. It is all solid wood and painted by hand and I absolutely adore the ethereal, unique, & natural feel to it. I scored the Jenny Lind bed on Craigslist for $200, in great condition and in the off-white color that had been discontinued(!) All sources for everything else are linked up at the bottom of the post.

Nursery Tour :)

Baby's nursery is *finally* completed and I'm a very proud mama bird of how her little nest turned out and I love this room so much. I definitely had so much more fun picking things out and decorating for our little girl than I did with Landon's nursery, (which looking back on was actually really boring, sorry L!) My whole pregnancy I swear I knew we were having a girl so I started planning and collecting little things for her ever since the positive pregnancy test. I really love this little space, and sometimes when the babes are sleeping and I have some free time I find myself making my way to her room, sitting in the rocking chair and rocking myself back and forth with a cup of tea or my computer, or sometimes just sitting and thinking quietly to myself.
This room is really teeny, which we renovated from an old music studio. It had no closet so we Chris built the shelving and clothing rack and hung up some yellow gingham curtains for closet doors (also did these curtain closet doors in Landon's 'big boy' room). The crib and changing table were the only things we have in here passed down from Landon, and I tried really hard not to spend much money on everything else. I'm actually really proud of all the re-purposing and recycling I managed in here - The rocking chair was Chris' mom's (the same one she used in her kids' nurseries), the end table and wooden heart wall shelf Chris' dad left here for us. And mostly everything in here minus the crib and changing table she will take with her to a 'big girl' room someday.

Home Tour: Landon's new room

Finally! This room took quite a while to come together but I am so happy and proud of the final outcome. First we had some serious wallpaper (2 layers and lots of leftover glue, bless my soul) to remove and some big holes in the wall to patch up. Then we primed & painted the room a sharp electric blue, touched up all the white trims and baseboards, and painted the inside of the closet and "shoe stand" white. For whatever reason, all the closet doors had been removed from 3 of the upstairs rooms so instead of getting new doors, I decided to put up some colorful curtains instead. (Thank you, Pinterest).
I absolutely love his new bed and dresser which came from my parents, a very generous & gorgeous 2nd birthday gift for lucky little L. It was custom designed and ordered so it took a little while to finally arrive, but it was definitely well worth the wait. We picked it out when they came to visit in August from Darvin Furniture in Orland Park. [Highly recommend if you are in the Chicagoland looking for some new furniture - This place was ginormous and you're guaranteed to find whatever it is you are looking for.] After much deliberation we decided to get him a full sized bed since we want him to have it for forever, and plus because he is such a crazy sleeper. The bookcase and little chair were left here for us from Chris' dad, the nightstand we already had, and the rug completely captured my heart at first "site" on Overstock.com.
